The company has said the money raised will mainly prepay borrowings of its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm (reports put this at up to ₹27,500 crore), with the rest for general corporate purposes. Because it is a fresh issue, the money goes to the company, not to selling shareholders. See OFS vs fresh issue for why that distinction matters.

Allotment date and time: the allotment was scheduled for Monday, 26 October, and many investors expected the result that evening. Live news coverage reported that it was still awaited late on 26 October and was finalised just after midnight, on Tuesday, 27 October. If your status page showed "record not found" on Monday night, that is why. Our step-by-step guide to checking the Jio IPO allotment status covers the KFin, BSE and NSE pages.
Subscription status
At close on 23 October, BSE data reported in the news showed the issue subscribed about 22.19 times overall, with roughly 1.39 crore applications.
| Category | Times subscribed (final, reported) |
|---|---|
| Qualified institutional buyers (QIB) | 70.55× |
| Non-institutional investors (NII) | 14.00× |
| Retail individual investors | 2.72× |
| Employees | 2.93× |
| Reliance shareholders | 7.60× |
| Overall | 22.19× |
Our live IPO dashboard took its snapshot from a third-party feed before the final figures and may show a slightly different overall number. For how to read these multiples, see IPO subscription status explained.
Quotas
Public summaries of the RHP show up to 50% of the net offer for QIBs (of which a large part went to anchors), at least 15% for non-institutional investors and at least 35% for retail investors, plus separate reservations for eligible employees and for Reliance Industries shareholders. One public summary lists an employee discount of ₹54 per share; we could not confirm this against the RHP, so treat it as unverified.
Shareholder quota: reports based on the RHP say anyone holding Reliance Industries shares on 14 October 2026 (the RHP date) was eligible, the quota was up to about ₹2,500 crore, and an eligible investor could bid up to ₹2 lakh in the shareholder category as well as up to ₹2 lakh in the retail category from the same PAN. This is an exception to the usual one-application-per-PAN rule that applies only across these specific categories. Check the RHP's "Issue Procedure" section before relying on it for future issues. See IPO categories: retail, sHNI and bHNI.
Worked example: retail odds and listing gain (illustrative)
Retail lots available. Retail shares offered (per BSE subscription data) were about 8,50,37,327. Dividing by 12 gives roughly 70.86 lakh minimum lots.
Under SEBI rules, when the retail category is oversubscribed, each valid retail applicant is first given one minimum lot as far as possible, by lottery if needed. Suppose, for illustration only, there were 1 crore valid retail applications:
| Item | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum lots available | 8,50,37,327 ÷ 12 | about 70.86 lakh |
| Valid retail applications (assumed) | 1 crore | |
| Chance of one lot | 70.86 lakh ÷ 1 crore | about 71% |
The actual number of retail applications has not been published in a source we could verify, so the real ratio may differ. Bidding for 14 lots does not raise your chance of getting the first lot.
Possible listing gain. Say you were allotted 1 lot at ₹1,119 (₹13,428) and the shares list at ₹1,369 (upper band + ₹250, the GMP quoted on 26 October):
- Gain per share: ₹1,369 − ₹1,119 = ₹250
- Gain per lot: ₹250 × 12 = ₹3,000
- Short-term capital gains tax at 20% if sold within 12 months: ₹600, plus cess and surcharge if applicable, and brokerage and STT
The actual listing price can be higher or lower. See tax on IPO listing gains.
Jio IPO GMP: read it with caution
The grey market premium (GMP) is the price at which unofficial dealers are said to trade IPO shares before listing. Trackers quoted the Jio Platforms GMP at roughly ₹245 to ₹250 on 26 October 2026 (around 22% above ₹1,119), and one tracker noted it had moved within a range of about ₹125 during the issue.
Keep these points in mind:
- GMP is not published by SEBI, BSE, NSE or the company. It has no legal standing.
- Different trackers show different numbers, often without saying when or how they were collected.
- Grey market deals are not protected by any exchange or regulator; if a counterparty defaults, you have no remedy.
- Large issues with heavy institutional demand can still list below the GMP-implied price.
Read what IPO GMP is and why it misleads before you decide anything based on it.
How to apply (for future issues) and what to do now
The Jio issue is closed. If you applied:
- Check allotment on KFin Technologies, BSE or NSE with your PAN or application number.
- If allotted, confirm the shares in your demat holdings on 27 October or by the morning of 28 October. The debit should equal shares allotted × final price.
- If not allotted, your blocked amount should be released by 27 October. If it is still on hold after that, follow IPO money blocked not refunded.
- On listing day, decide whether to sell or hold before the market opens; see IPO listing day: what to do.
If you missed the issue, you can buy on the exchange after listing at the market price, which may be well above the issue price. For the next large IPO, the standard process is in how to apply for an IPO online.
Safety points
- Use only the official registrar site, BSE or NSE to check allotment. Ignore links in Telegram or WhatsApp groups promising "confirmed allotment" for a fee; there is no such thing.
- Never share your UPI PIN, OTP or demat login with anyone claiming to help with Jio allotment.
- Anyone selling "pre-listing Jio shares" or taking "grey market orders" through a personal bank account is outside any regulatory protection.
