Digital Gujarat (digitalgujarat.gov.in) is the Gujarat government's official portal for post-matric scholarships for SC, SEBC (OBC), EBC, DNT and ST students, along with allied help such as food bill assistance, instrument aid and coaching support. As of October 2026 the 2026-27 cycle is active: the SC window was reopened for remaining students until 31 October 2026, and ST students can apply until 30 November 2026. Applying is free, and every form must be submitted online and then handed to your college with documents.

This guide explains which schemes are on the portal, the 2026-27 income limits, the documents and new eKYC rules, how to track your application, and what to do when it gets stuck. For merit-based fee aid (MYSY), see our separate MYSY scholarship guide, which uses its own portal.

Who these scholarships are for

You can use the Digital Gujarat scholarship services if you are:

  • a Gujarat domicile student studying after Class 10 (Class 11-12, diploma, ITI, graduation, postgraduation, M.Phil or PhD), including at recognised institutions outside Gujarat
  • from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), SEBC/OBC, EBC or DNT category, depending on the scheme
  • within the scheme's family income limit (₹2.5 lakh for the central schemes; up to ₹6 lakh for several state schemes; no limit for some girls' schemes)
  • admitted through the regular process and not repeating a year without reason

Three departments run most schemes: the Director, Scheduled Caste Welfare, the Director, Developing Castes Welfare (SEBC, EBC, DNT) and the Director, Tribal Development (ST). Central schemes for minority students and many all-India schemes are on the National Scholarship Portal instead.

Schemes and amounts for 2026-27 (as of October 2026)

The tables below are from the official 2026-27 guidelines published on gssp.gujarat.gov.in. The guidelines say the final interpretation follows the government resolution (GR), so treat them as a summary.

For SC students (Director, Scheduled Caste Welfare)

Scheme Family income limit Support
Post-Matric Scholarship for SC (GOI), BCK-6.1 Up to ₹2.5 lakh Academic allowance plus admissible tuition fee; 60% paid by the Centre, 40% by the state, directly to the student
State post-matric scholarship for SC girls, BCK-5 No income limit (girls only) Allowance plus tuition fee, subject to the 50% marks condition in the GR
State post-matric scholarship for SC boys, BCK-5A ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh Allowance plus tuition fee, subject to the 50% marks condition
Food bill assistance, BCK-10 Up to ₹6 lakh ₹1,500 a month for 10 months, for students in college-attached hostels
Instrument help, BCK-12 Up to ₹6 lakh ₹15,000 (medical), ₹10,000 (engineering), ₹5,000 (diploma), first year only

Private tuition coaching (science, Class 11-12), BCK-7 Up to ₹6 lakh ₹15,000 in Class 11 and ₹15,000 in Class 12; needs 70% or more in Class 10
M.Phil and PhD fellowship, BCK-11 Up to ₹6 lakh ₹25,000 (M.Phil), ₹1,00,000 (PhD), on submission of thesis

Students admitted on a freeship card must apply under the freeship versions of these schemes. The whole amount, including tuition fee, is credited to the student, who must pay the college its fee within 7 days.

For SEBC, EBC and DNT students (Director, Developing Castes Welfare)

The main scheme is the central PM YASASVI Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC and DNT students, for family income up to ₹2.5 lakh. Annual rates in the 2026-27 guideline depend on the course group:

Course group Academic allowance Tuition fee (actual fee or this cap, whichever is lower) Maximum per year
Group A ₹10,000 ₹10,000 ₹20,000
Group B ₹8,000 ₹5,000 ₹13,000
Group C ₹6,000 ₹2,000 ₹8,000
Group D ₹5,000 Nil ₹5,000

State schemes cover SEBC students above ₹2.5 lakh up to ₹6 lakh (girls have no income limit under the state scheme), plus instrument help (₹15,000 medical, ₹10,000 engineering, ₹5,000 diploma) and food bill help for medical and engineering students, within a ₹6 lakh limit.

For ST students (Director, Tribal Development)

The central Umbrella Scheme for Education of ST Students, Post-Matric Scholarship covers families below ₹2.5 lakh. State schemes cover ST girls above ₹2.5 lakh and ST boys between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹6 lakh. All pay a maintenance allowance plus tuition fee.

Worked example: what an SC engineering student can claim

Rohan is an SC student in the first year of a government engineering college, staying in the college hostel. His family income is ₹4 lakh, so he falls in the ₹2.5-6 lakh band.

  • Scholarship: state SC boys' scheme BCK-5A (allowance plus tuition fee, as per the GR)
  • Food bill assistance: ₹1,500 × 10 months = ₹15,000
  • Instrument help (engineering, first year): ₹10,000
  • Extra support on top of the scholarship in year one: ₹15,000 + ₹10,000 = ₹25,000

From the second year, the instrument help stops, so the extra support is ₹15,000 a year if he stays in the hostel. Over four years that is ₹25,000 + (₹15,000 × 3) = ₹70,000, excluding the main scholarship. If part of the fee is still uncovered, an education loan can bridge the gap; our EMI calculator shows what that would cost each month.

Documents required

Scan the originals (the guidelines ask for original scans, not photocopies) and keep a self-attested set for the college:

  • Caste certificate issued by the competent authority
  • Parent's income certificate from the competent authority (Form 16 too if a parent is a government employee; mother's certificate if the father has died or the parents are divorced, with proof)
  • Marksheets of Class 10 and every year after it
  • First page of the bank passbook or a cancelled cheque showing account number, IFSC and branch
  • Aadhaar number and ration card number, with the ration card member ID
  • Fee receipt (not for freeship card holders)
  • Hosteller certificate signed by the hostel authority, if you live in a hostel
  • Gap affidavit if you had a break in studies after Class 10
  • Disability certificate, marriage certificate for married women students, passport-size photo

How to apply on Digital Gujarat, step by step

  1. Register. Open digitalgujarat.gov.in, choose Login/Register > Citizen Login > New Registration (Citizen). You need your own email ID and mobile number. If you applied in an earlier year, use the old login; use Forgot Password to reset it with an OTP.
  2. Generate the NSP OTR number (for central schemes). Do this on scholarships.gov.in and keep the number ready.
  3. Complete Aadhaar biometric eKYC. From 2025-26 the Centre made it compulsory for centrally sponsored post-matric schemes. The portal pulls your eKYC status from the ration card database when you enter your ration card member ID. If it shows "No", complete eKYC through the My Ration app, the mamlatdar's supply branch, the gram panchayat VCE, or your school principal.
  4. Open Services > Scholarship Services > Request a New Service and select 2026-27. Open schemes show in green; closed ones in red. Renewal students will usually find their form in "Renewal" mode.
  5. Fill five sections: Registration Detail, Bank Details, Academic Details, Disability Detail and Attachment. Choose your institute and course carefully; a wrong choice sends the form to another college.
  6. Verify your mobile with OTP and click Confirm & Final Submit.
  7. Print the form and submit it with the documents to your school or college. The guidelines say an application is not considered without this step.

ST students can follow the same steps on gssp.gujarat.gov.in. One Aadhaar number can file only one application.

Status tracking

  • Log in, go to Scholarship Services, select the year and click Show to see your applications.
  • The flow is: submitted by student, verified by institute, verified and sanctioned by the district office, then paid by DBT.
  • If the college has not acted yet and you need to correct something, use the Withdraw option, edit and resubmit.
  • Payment goes to the bank account seeded with your Aadhaar. Check the mapped bank on npci.org.in under Customers > Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE). Central payments can also be checked on pfms.nic.in.
  • For OTP delays, the portal recommends NIC's Sandes app.

Common problems and fixes

Problem Fix
eKYC shows "No" Complete biometric eKYC in the ration card database (My Ration app, supply branch, VCE, principal), then reopen the form
Course not listed Ask the college to add the course in its login, then select it after some time
Lost the registered mobile number Visit the district SC, ST or OBC office to verify identity and change it
Scholarship approved but not credited Seed Aadhaar to your account, make sure it is DBT-enabled and not dormant
Scholarship services not opening Use gssp.gujarat.gov.in with the same login
Application not considered Make sure you clicked Final Submit and handed the printout to the college

If money is approved but missing, our scholarship not received guide and DBT payment not received guide walk through the bank side.

How to complain

  1. Your college scholarship desk (most delays are at institute verification).
  2. The district office of the department running the scheme: SC welfare, developing castes welfare, or tribal development.
  3. The helpline 18002335500.
  4. Gujarat's online grievance system SWAGAT (linked from the portal's footer as "Write to Grievance").

Beware of fake sites and agents

There is no form fee in the 2026-27 guidelines. Apply only on digitalgujarat.gov.in or gssp.gujarat.gov.in, never share OTPs, and ignore anyone who promises faster approval for money. A VCE or common service centre may charge a small assisted-filing fee; ask for a receipt. See our guide on fake government scheme websites.
