MahaDBT 2.0 Portal 2026: Find Schemes, Apply, Track Status
MahaDBT 2.0 explained: Maha ID login, finding eligible Maharashtra schemes, documents, scholarship and farmer applications, status meanings and grievances.

In this article
MahaDBT is the Maharashtra government's official Direct Benefit Transfer portal, and since 2026 its new version, MahaDBT 2.0 (mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in), is where you find schemes you qualify for, apply, upload documents and track payment. As of October 2026 the portal is active and lists 104 schemes from 14 departments, covering college and school scholarships, farmer subsidies, pensions and disability support. For academic year 2026-27, scholarship applications (fresh and renewal) are accepted only on MahaDBT 2.0.
This guide shows how to log in with a Maha ID, check which schemes you are eligible for, get your documents right, read every status, and raise a grievance. Applying is free.
Who uses MahaDBT
Any resident of Maharashtra who wants a state benefit paid by DBT. The 2.0 home page groups schemes like this (as of October 2026):
| Group | Number of schemes | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| College students | 60 | Post-matric scholarship (SC, ST, OBC, VJNT, SBC), freeship, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj fee scholarship, hostel allowance |
| School students | 14 | Pre-matric and merit schemes |
| Farmers | 20 | Agriculture department subsidies such as farm machinery and micro irrigation |
| Pensioners and special assistance | 3 | Special assistance schemes |
| Persons with disability | 2 | Disability scholarships and support |
| Others | 30 | Other department schemes |
The exact list changes as departments move schemes to the new portal, so use the portal's Know your benefits / Find Eligible Schemes option rather than relying on a printed list. For central schemes not on MahaDBT, search myScheme or the National Scholarship Portal.
MahaDBT 1.0 vs 2.0: which one to use
| Situation | Portal |
|---|---|
| New or renewal scholarship for 2026-27 | MahaDBT 2.0 only (opened 1 June 2026) |
| 2025-26 application | MahaDBT 1.0, mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in (window stated as open till 30 September 2026) |
| Application "Sent Back" in 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26 | Resubmit on MahaDBT 1.0 |
| Farmer, pension and other schemes moved to 2.0 | MahaDBT 2.0 |
News reports in 2026 say more schemes are being onboarded and a fuller unified-platform launch is planned for January 2027. We could not find an official notice on this, so follow what the portal's "Latest updates" box says.
Documents to keep ready
The official help file asks you to keep these before starting:
- Aadhaar number, with your mobile number linked to Aadhaar for OTP
- Maha ID (created during registration through MahaSarathi)
- Bank account seeded with Aadhaar through NPCI (DBT is paid to this account)
- Scans in PDF, JPG or JPEG, up to 5 MB each, plus photo and signature
- Scheme-specific documents. For scholarships, usually: income certificate for the current financial year from the tehsildar or competent authority, caste certificate and non-creamy layer certificate where applicable, domicile, admission and CAP allotment letter, fee receipt, marksheets, and hostel details
- For farmers: an AgriStack Farmer ID. Since the 2025-26 season the agriculture department has made it mandatory, and a July 2025 report said land records (7/12, 8A) are fetched through it, so separate uploads are no longer needed
The manual is clear that an expired income certificate leads to rejection, and that your name is taken from Aadhaar, so certificates must match it.
How to apply on MahaDBT 2.0, step by step
- Open mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in in Chrome, Edge or Firefox and turn off pop-up blockers. Choose English or Marathi.
- Register once. Click Register; you are taken to MahaSarathi, where you create your Maha ID.
- Log in via Citizen Login using Maha ID, Aadhaar, or without Maha ID, and enter the OTP.
- Find your scheme. Open Apply for Scheme, filter by department, and read the Description and GR for each scheme.
- Click Apply. The portal checks your eligibility automatically; choose the academic year and click Proceed to Apply.
- Fill the form. Smart auto-fill brings in details from government databases. Correct anything that is wrong in editable fields.
- Upload documents, preview, and Submit. Note the Application Reference Number (ARN).
- For scholarships, the college verifies first, then the department. Keep in touch with your college scholarship desk.
You can apply for several schemes at once if you qualify, but only one application per scheme per year.
Worked example: girls vs boys under the fee scholarship
Sneha and her cousin Aditya both got engineering seats through CAP. Tuition fee: ₹85,000; exam fee: ₹1,500. Both are EWS with family income of ₹5 lakh.
- Sneha (girl, income up to ₹8 lakh) under the 2024 girls' scheme, 100% of tuition and exam fee: ₹85,000 + ₹1,500 = ₹86,500 a year
- Aditya under the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj fee scholarship, 50%: ₹86,500 × 50% = ₹43,250 a year
Aditya's family has to pay ₹86,500 − ₹43,250 = ₹43,250 a year themselves. If they borrow it, our EMI calculator shows the monthly cost. Check the current GR on the scheme page before relying on these percentages; our tuition fee reimbursement guide explains how these schemes work across states.
Status tracking: what each status means
Log in and open My Applications, or use Track Application on the home page with your ARN.
| Status | Meaning | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Draft Application | Saved, not submitted | Submit before the deadline |
| Submitted | Waiting for officer review | Nothing; follow up with the college for scholarships |
| Sent Back | Returned for correction | Read remarks, correct, resubmit |
| Approved | Benefit sanctioned | Wait for allotment and payment |
| Payment Initiated | Payment order sent | Allow 1-3 working days |
| Disbursed | Money credited | Check bank statement |
| Undisbursed | Payment failed | Fix bank or Aadhaar seeding, then raise a grievance |
| Rejected | Not approved | Read the reason; reapply if it was a correctable error and the window is open |
| Cancelled / Right to Give Up | Withdrawn by you or the scheme | Contact the institute to reactivate if done by mistake |
The manual says that if your status shows Approved and no money arrives within 15 working days, you should raise a grievance.
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| OTP not received | Check the mobile linked to Aadhaar; wait and resend; update it at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra if changed |
| Scheme not visible | You may not be eligible, or the window is closed; read the scheme description |
| Upload fails | Use PDF/JPG/JPEG under 5 MB |
| Name mismatch | Your name comes from Aadhaar; correct Aadhaar or the certificate so they match |
| Undisbursed | Check Aadhaar-bank mapping at resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper; seed the right account |
| Session logged out | Portal times out after 30 minutes of inactivity; drafts are saved |
For payment problems after approval, see DBT payment not received.
How to complain
- Grievance tab on MahaDBT 2.0: pick the scheme, choose the grievance type, describe the problem with your ARN, attach proof and save the Grievance Reference ID. Officer comments and an audit trail appear under Grievance List.
- Helpline 022-49150800 (home page); the user manual also lists 1800-120-8040.
- Your college scholarship desk or the taluka agriculture office for farmer schemes.
- Aaple Sarkar (the state grievance portal) or CPGRAMS (pgportal.gov.in) if nothing moves.
Avoid fake MahaDBT sites
The official addresses end in .maharashtra.gov.in. Applications are free; no officer will ask for money to "approve" a scholarship or subsidy. If a site or caller asks for a fee or your OTP, read our guide on fake government scheme websites.

My MahaDBT status says Sent Back. Is my application rejected?
No. Sent Back means the scrutiny officer returned it for correction. Log in, read the remarks, fix the problem and resubmit before the scheme deadline.
What is the MahaDBT helpline number?
