LPG Subsidy Not Received? How to Check and Complain (2026)
LPG subsidy not received in your bank? Check PAHAL status, Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC, know the Ujjwala 4-refill limit, and complain the right way in 2026.

In this article
"I booked a cylinder, paid the full price, and the subsidy never came." If this is you, the one-line fix is: check your PAHAL (DBTL) status on mylpg.in, then confirm that your Aadhaar is seeded to an active bank account and that your LPG biometric e-KYC is done. Most missing subsidies come down to one of those three, and each can be fixed without paying anyone.
All rules below are as of October 2026. LPG subsidy terms change often, so treat the figures as a starting point and confirm with your distributor.
First, check whether you are owed a subsidy at all
Many people expect a credit that the current rules no longer give. There are two very different groups:
| Group | What you get in 2026 | How it reaches you |
|---|---|---|
| Ujjwala (PMUY) connection holders | ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder (pro-rated for 5 kg) on up to 4 refills a year | Credited to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account after delivery |
| Non-Ujjwala domestic consumers | Usually little or no cash subsidy in the bank | The government says oil companies sell below cost; that support is in the price, not a DBT credit |
| Households with taxable income above ₹10 lakh | Not eligible for subsidy | Pay market price |
Some background on the numbers:
- The targeted Ujjwala subsidy was ₹200 per cylinder from May 2022 and was raised to ₹300 in October 2023.
- For FY 2025-26 the Union Cabinet approved ₹300 per cylinder on up to 9 refills a year.
- In June 2026, petroleum ministry officials said the subsidised refills for PMUY households had been cut to 4 a year, while the ₹300 amount stayed the same. That drops the maximum yearly subsidy from ₹2,700 to ₹1,200.
- For general consumers, government data shows the DBTL subsidy shrinking sharply after 2020 (for example ₹242 crore in all of 2021-22), so a missing credit for a non-Ujjwala connection is often not a fault at all.
If you hold an Ujjwala connection and want the full scheme details, read our guide to the PM Ujjwala Yojana.
Ujjwala connection vs refill subsidy
These are two separate benefits and people often mix them up:
- Connection benefit (one-time): a deposit-free connection covering the cylinder deposit, regulator, hose and booklet, plus a free first refill and stove under Ujjwala 2.0. You should not pay the distributor for these items.
- Refill subsidy (recurring): you pay the full market price at delivery, and ₹300 is credited to your bank later for each eligible refill, up to the yearly limit.
So "I got my Ujjwala connection but no subsidy" usually means the connection worked but the bank credit failed, which is a seeding or e-KYC problem.
Worked example: how much is actually missing
Suppose an Ujjwala household takes 6 cylinders between April and October 2026.
- Subsidised refills allowed in the year: 4
- Expected subsidy: 4 × ₹300 = ₹1,200
- Refills 5 and 6: no subsidy, so ₹0 is expected for them
- Credits seen in the bank statement: 2 × ₹300 = ₹600
- Shortfall to claim: ₹1,200 − ₹600 = ₹600
Write this calculation down with the booking numbers and dates of the 4 subsidised refills. It turns a vague "subsidy not coming" into a specific claim your distributor and the oil company can trace.
Why the subsidy fails: the common causes
- Aadhaar not seeded to the bank account (NPCI mapper). DBT credits go to the account mapped to your Aadhaar with NPCI, not necessarily the account you gave the distributor. If you opened a new account, the subsidy may be going to the old one, or failing.
- Biometric e-KYC pending. Oil companies have been asking LPG consumers to complete Aadhaar biometric authentication. Reports in 2026 say subsidised refills now require it, and that PMUY customers must authenticate once each financial year. Supply of cylinders continues; it is the subsidy that gets withheld.
- Bank account closed, dormant or KYC-frozen. A credit to an inactive account bounces back. See how to reactivate a dormant account and bank KYC update.
- Name or Aadhaar mismatch between the LPG record and the bank record.
- Yearly limit already used. After the 4th subsidised refill, nothing more is due until the next financial year.
- Not an Ujjwala connection. A regular connection transferred or registered in the family may not carry the PMUY subsidy.
Linking Aadhaar at your branch is not the same as NPCI mapping; our guide to Aadhaar seeding and NPCI mapping explains how to check and fix it.
How to check your LPG subsidy status
- mylpg.in: choose Indane, HP Gas or Bharatgas, then use the subsidy/PAHAL status option with your 17-digit LPG ID or registered mobile number. It shows whether you are DBTL-joined (cash-transfer compliant) and the subsidy against each refill.
- Your oil company app: the official apps show booking history; look for the subsidy amount and transfer date beside each refill.
- Your bank statement: subsidy credits usually carry a narration mentioning the oil company or DBTL. Search for them.
- Aadhaar bank seeding status: on the official myAadhaar portal, the bank seeding status service shows which bank your Aadhaar is mapped to. If it shows "inactive" or a bank you no longer use, that is the problem.
Step by step: getting the missing subsidy
On the first day
- Note your LPG ID, consumer number, distributor name and the booking numbers of the unpaid refills.
- Check the four things above and screenshot each screen.
- If e-KYC is pending, complete it through your oil company's app with the Aadhaar FaceRD app, or at the distributor with your Aadhaar. Do it yourself; there is no fee.
Within a week
- Fix the bank link. Visit your bank and ask for Aadhaar seeding with NPCI mapping (sometimes called DBT-enabled seeding) on the account you want. If your account is new, the switch can take a few days to reflect.
- Fix the LPG link. Ask the distributor to confirm that your Aadhaar and bank details are correct in the PAHAL record and that the connection is marked PMUY if you are a beneficiary.
- Ask the distributor in writing whether any subsidy was sent and returned (failed). A failed credit can usually be re-sent once the account is fixed.
If it is still unresolved after 2-3 weeks
- Complain to the oil company's customer care. The toll-free number 1800-2333-555 is listed as IndianOil's customer care line and is widely given for LPG complaints; check your own company's website for its current numbers and online grievance portal.
- If the oil company confirms the subsidy was transferred but your bank did not credit it, this becomes a bank problem. Raise it with the bank and, after 30 days without a satisfactory reply, with RBI's Complaint Management System at cms.rbi.org.in. Our guide on money debited but not credited explains how to trace such credits.
Note: 1906 is the LPG emergency helpline for gas leaks, not for subsidy complaints.
Where to complain, in order
| Level | Where | When to move on |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Your LPG distributor, in writing | No action in about 7 days |
| 2 | Oil company customer care / online grievance portal | No resolution in about 30 days |
| 3 | CPGRAMS (pgportal.gov.in), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas | If still unresolved |
| Bank side | Bank branch → grievance officer → cms.rbi.org.in | Subsidy sent but not credited |
If the bank keeps stalling, see bank not resolving complaint.

Subject: LPG subsidy not received – LPG ID [17-digit ID]
Dear Sir/Madam, I am a [PMUY / domestic] LPG consumer with [Indane / HP Gas / Bharatgas], LPG ID [ID], distributor [name, town]. I have not received the subsidy for the following refills: [booking no. and date], [booking no. and date]. My Aadhaar is seeded to my bank account [bank name, last 4 digits] and my e-KYC was completed on [date]. Please confirm whether the subsidy was transferred, the transaction reference and date, and if it failed, re-send it to the seeded account. Registered mobile: [number] Name: [name]
What not to do
- Do not pay agents or "subsidy restore" fees. Linking Aadhaar, e-KYC and subsidy checks are free at the distributor and in official apps.
- Do not use look-alike websites. Use mylpg.in, pmuy.gov.in and your oil company's official site or app only. Fake "Ujjwala registration" sites collect Aadhaar and bank details for fraud.
- Do not share OTPs or your UPI PIN with anyone who calls about a "pending subsidy". No genuine refund needs your PIN.
- Do not close your old bank account before the new one shows as Aadhaar-seeded, or pending credits may fail.
Key takeaways
- As of October 2026, Ujjwala households get ₹300 per cylinder on up to 4 refills a year; most non-Ujjwala households get little or no cash subsidy.
- The subsidy goes to the bank account mapped to your Aadhaar with NPCI, and biometric e-KYC must be complete.
- Check mylpg.in, your oil company app, your bank statement and your Aadhaar seeding status before complaining.
- Escalate distributor → oil company → CPGRAMS; if the bank failed to credit a sent subsidy, go to the bank and then RBI CMS.
- Every step is free; ignore anyone asking for a fee or OTP.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my LPG subsidy not coming into my bank account?
The usual reasons are that your Aadhaar is not seeded to the bank account through the NPCI mapper, biometric e-KYC for LPG is pending, the linked bank account is closed or changed, you are not an Ujjwala beneficiary, or you have already used the subsidised refills for the year. Check your status on mylpg.in or your oil company's app.
How much LPG subsidy do I get in 2026?
As of October 2026, Ujjwala (PMUY) beneficiaries get a targeted subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder on up to 4 refills a year, after the limit was cut from 9 in June 2026. Most non-Ujjwala households receive little or no cash subsidy in the bank; the government says oil companies absorb the gap between cost and selling price.
How can I check my LPG subsidy status online?
Go to mylpg.in, choose your company (Indane, HP Gas or Bharatgas) and use the subsidy or PAHAL status option with your LPG ID or registered mobile number. The company apps also show refill history with the subsidy credited against each booking.
Where do I complain if the LPG subsidy is not credited?
Start with your distributor, then the oil company's customer care or online grievance portal, quoting your LPG ID and booking numbers. If there is no reply within about 30 days, file a grievance on the government CPGRAMS portal at pgportal.gov.in. If the subsidy was sent but your bank did not credit it, complain to the bank and then RBI's CMS portal.
Is there a difference between an Ujjwala connection and the refill subsidy?
Yes. The Ujjwala connection benefit is one-time: deposit-free connection, first refill and stove. The refill subsidy is a separate ₹300 per cylinder credited to your bank account after each eligible refill, subject to the yearly refill limit and e-KYC.
