The iKhedut portal (ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in) is where Gujarat farmers apply for almost every state farm subsidy, from tractors and fencing to horticulture and cattle-shed support. As of October 2026, the main 2026-27 window for 148 subsidy components ran from 27 March to 26 April 2026, and smaller windows keep opening through the year, so the key to getting a subsidy is applying early in the right window and not buying equipment before your application is approved.

What the iKhedut portal is

iKhedut is a single-window online system of the Gujarat government. Farmers and livestock keepers register once with Aadhaar and then apply for schemes of:

  • the Agriculture department (farm machinery, fencing, storage, solar and pump sets, seeds)
  • the Horticulture department (fruit, flower and vegetable cultivation, net houses and polyhouses, cold storage, mini tractors)
  • the Animal Husbandry department (cattle sheds, dairy units, calf rearing, goat units, poultry training)

The same portal is also used for registrations like selling crops at minimum support price. It does not provide loans; it provides subsidies and assistance, so the rest of the cost is yours to arrange.

2026-27 windows so far

Window Dates (2026) What it covered
Main window 27 March to 26 April 148 components: 42 agriculture, 94 horticulture, 12 animal husbandry
Rabi seeds 4 October to 15 October Certified seeds, seed minikits and demonstrations
MSP crop-sale registration Extended to 24 October Groundnut, moong, soybean and urad at support prices

Reports also mention a short "iKhedut 2.0" window in May and June 2026 for items such as kisan drones. If you missed a window, it does not mean the scheme is closed; check the portal regularly and ask your gram sevak (village extension worker) when the next window for your item opens.

For 2026-27, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani said eligible farmers would receive subsidies as applications are received and verified, without waiting for the closing date. Applying in the first few days is therefore an advantage.

Main subsidy schemes on iKhedut

Area Examples of components in 2026-27
Farm machinery Tractors, power tillers, rotavators, combine harvesters, laser land levellers, oil engines
Field protection and storage Tar (wire) fencing, crop storage structures
Energy and irrigation Solar power units, pump sets
Digital Smartphone assistance for farmers
Horticulture Mini tractors up to 20 PTO HP, net houses, polyhouses, cold storage, dragon fruit, oil palm, fruit, flower and vegetable cultivation
Animal husbandry Cattle sheds, dairy units for milch animals, calf rearing, goat units, poultry training stipends

Subsidy rates differ by component, farmer category (small or marginal, SC, ST, women, general) and land holding, and they change by resolution. Third-party websites quote very different figures for tractors in particular, so read the rate shown against the component on the portal when you apply.

Tar fencing: what changed in 2026

After a Gujarat cabinet decision in May 2026, reports said:

  • assistance rose from ₹200 per running metre or 50% of cost, whichever is lower, to ₹300 per running metre or 50% of the actual cost
  • the minimum cluster area was halved from 2 hectares to 1 hectare
  • ₹240 crore was sanctioned, and the portal can open a second time in the year if needed

Smartphone assistance

Secondary sources describe smartphone assistance of 40% of the phone's price, up to ₹6,000, once per landholding. Confirm the current rule on the portal before buying.

For micro-irrigation, read our separate guide to the drip irrigation subsidy before you apply.

Worked example: tar fencing and smartphone

Fencing. A group of farmers fences 400 running metres around a 1-hectare cluster at an actual cost of ₹500 per metre.

  • Total cost = 400 × ₹500 = ₹2,00,000
  • 50% of cost = ₹1,00,000
  • Old rule: ₹200 × 400 = ₹80,000, versus ₹1,00,000; lower = ₹80,000
  • New rule, if the lower-of test continues: ₹300 × 400 = ₹1,20,000, versus ₹1,00,000; lower = ₹1,00,000

So the farmers' own share falls from ₹1,20,000 to ₹1,00,000, a saving of ₹20,000. If the new rule does not apply a lower-of test, the subsidy could be up to ₹1,20,000; the sanction letter will state the figure.

Smartphone. At 40% up to ₹6,000:

  • ₹12,000 phone: 40% = ₹4,800, which is below the cap, so assistance is ₹4,800.
  • ₹20,000 phone: 40% = ₹8,000, capped at ₹6,000.

If you are buying something larger, like a tractor, on a loan, subtract the expected subsidy only after it is sanctioned, and check the EMI on the full loan in the EMI calculator. Farm loans are also available against gold under the KCC route; see agriculture gold loan.

Documents you will typically need

  • Aadhaar card (used for registration and authentication)
  • 7/12 (satbara) and 8-A land records in your name
  • Bank passbook or cancelled cheque for direct benefit transfer
  • Mobile number for OTP
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST) if claiming a reserved-category rate
  • Ration card, where the scheme asks for it
  • For joint holdings, consent of other holders; for some machinery, a quotation from an empanelled dealer

How to apply on iKhedut, step by step

  1. Check the open schemes. Go to ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in and look at the list of schemes open for application.
  2. Register. Register with your Aadhaar and mobile number, or get it done through your gram panchayat's VCE or the gram sevak.
  3. Choose the component. Pick the scheme and the exact item (for example, a rotavator of a particular size).
  4. Fill details. Enter land survey number, land area, bank account and category details exactly as in your records.
  5. Upload documents and confirm the application. An unconfirmed application is not considered.
  6. Print and submit if asked. Some components still ask you to take a printout, sign it and submit it with documents to the gram sevak or taluka office within the stated time.
  7. Wait for pre-approval. For machinery and structures, buy or build only after you receive pre-approval. Bills dated before approval are a common reason for rejection.
  8. Buy, submit bills and get verified. Submit the GST bill, photos and any required certificate. After physical verification, the subsidy is paid by DBT to your bank account.
  9. Track status with the application status option on the portal.

Common reasons applications are rejected

  • Buying before pre-approval or from a non-empanelled dealer where empanelment is required
  • Name or survey number mismatch between Aadhaar, 7/12 and the application
  • Application not confirmed, or printout not submitted when required
  • Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so DBT fails
  • Taking the same benefit again within the scheme's repeat period
  • Budget target already used up for your taluka or category

How to complain

  1. Start with your gram sevak or the taluka agriculture office (or the horticulture or animal husbandry office for those schemes).
  2. Escalate to the District Agriculture Officer or the deputy director of the relevant department.
  3. Call the central Kisan Call Centre on 1800-180-1551 for guidance.
  4. File an online grievance on Gujarat's SWAGAT system (swagat.gujarat.gov.in).

Use only the official portal. Fake websites and social-media pages copy the iKhedut name to collect Aadhaar and bank details or charge "registration fees". Registration is free, and no agent can guarantee selection.

Small and marginal farmers can also build a pension with the PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana. For small business ventures alongside farming, such as a dairy or processing unit, compare Gujarat's Vajpayee Bankable Yojana.

Frequently asked questions

What is the iKhedut portal?

iKhedut (ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in) is the Gujarat government's single online portal where farmers and livestock keepers apply for subsidy schemes of the agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry departments, and register for things like crop sales at support prices.

When does the iKhedut portal open in 2026?

For 2026-27 the main window ran from 27 March to 26 April 2026 for 148 components. Shorter windows open later for specific items, such as the rabi seed window from 4 to 15 October 2026. Check the portal or your gram sevak for the next window.

How much subsidy is given for tar fencing in Gujarat?

After a cabinet decision in May 2026, reports say assistance was raised to ₹300 per running metre or 50% of the actual cost, from ₹200 per metre earlier, and the minimum cluster area was reduced from 2 hectares to 1 hectare. Confirm the final rule on the portal before you build.

What documents are needed for iKhedut applications?

Usually Aadhaar, 7/12 and 8-A land records, bank passbook or cancelled cheque, a mobile number linked for OTP, and a caste certificate if you claim a reserved-category benefit. Some schemes ask for extra documents such as quotations or a consent letter from joint holders.

How do I check my iKhedut application status?

Open the iKhedut portal, choose the application status option, and enter your application number or registered details. You can also ask your gram sevak or the taluka agriculture office.

Is the iKhedut subsidy given on a first-come basis or by draw?

It depends on the component and the budget. For 2026-27 the agriculture minister said eligible applications would be processed as they are received and verified, without waiting for the deadline. Where applications exceed the target, selection can be by priority or draw as per the scheme rules.
